Main Pot

In the scenario where one of the players has insufficient chips, a main pot and a side pot is created. The main pot is the original pot in which all players still in the hand have an interest.

Example

Alan bets $5, Bernard calls the $5 while Charlie goes all-in with his remaining $3. In this case, the pot will be split into a main pot consisting of $9 ($3 each from Alan, Bernard and Charlie) and a side pot of $4 ($2 from Alan and $2 from Bernard).

If either Alan or Bernard wins the hand, he will take both the main pot and the side pot. However, if Charlie wins the hand, he can only take the main pot. Depending on who has the 2nd best hand, either Alan or Bernard will take the side pot.
