Nut Full House

Fortune Jack Poker

Having the nut straight means having made the best possible full house with the cards on the board. Take note, having the nut full house does not imply that you have the best possible hand. You can still be beaten by a four-of-a-kind or better.

Given the board above, while both you and your opponent have each flopped a full house, you have the nut full house. While there is a chance that your opponent could have flopped a four-of-a-kind with that kind of flop, its still correct to say that you have the nut full house.

If you think the above scenario is pretty far-fetched and only happens in the movies, you are partially correct. I got it from the movie 'Rounders' - a cult movie for poker players. View the clip below and watch how Matt Damon lost to a nut full house.
