Side Pot

When 3 or more players remain in the hand and one of the players has insufficient chips, a side pot is created in which that player has no interest. If that player won the hand, he can only take the original (main) pot while the side pot goes to the player with the second best hand.

Example

Albert bets $10, Brad calls the $10 while Charlene goes all-in with her remaining $6. In this case, the pot will be split into a main pot consisting of $18 ($6 each from Albert, Brad and Charlene) and a side pot of $8 ($4 from Albert and $4 from Brad).

If either Albert or Brad wins the hand, he will take both the main pot and the side pot. However, if Charlene wins the hand, she can only take the main pot. Depending on who has the 2nd best hand, either Albert or Brad will take the side pot.
